Dear Friends, I am in process to migrate the XenApp 5.0 to XenApp 6.5. I need some help regarding terminal license Server. Current Environment 1- XenApp 5.0 running on Windows 2003 Std Edition 2- Terminal License Server Running on Windows 2003 R2 64 bit Since Windows 2008 Server can not communicate to license server which is running on 2003 machine, I have to migrate the license server as well. I have prepared a windows 2008 R2 64 bit machine for Terminal License Server (RDS) to activate and move the TS CAL which are currently running on 2003 machine. I called MS Clearing House they said I have to deactivate the existing license server first to move the TS CALs to new server. I am looking someone to answer following questions 1- Does 2008 R2 TS License server has backward compatibility to communicate with 2003 server 2- Is there any possible issue to migrate TS CALs to 2008 Server 3- Is there any impact in production in case TS License Server 2003 deactivate and will not migrate on 2008 Thanks in advance!! All of our order information is on the Volume License Website.. Generally your agreements with Microsoft will be owned by someone in your company who's email address is tied to logging into this website. Hopefully your company isnt like ours was a while back where we had multiple people with different agreements assigned to them. We had to take time to consolidate them into 1. We actualy created an email address more generic and added all our agreements to it so that we can all see them in one portal. Once you can see all your agreement numbers, you can call Microsoft and have them go through each agreement with you to tell you which ones you have RDS licenses with and how many. Im 99 percent sure that even with Device licensing, if you set your new 2008 R2 Terminal Server license server in 'Automatic mode', you can enter in your agreement number and the amount of licenses in it, and install them even if they are on your Windows 2003 Terminal Server license server. I was on the phone for hours getting migrated to our new Terminal Server License server because I had to figure out how many licenses I had in each agreement so I can import them.
